Steve sheds all his excess weight!

"One day, I tied my shoes, by the time I'd finished, I was huffing and puffing! I knew then I had to do something about myself, tying your own shoes should be a breeze, not for me, I had almost passed out with the sudden head rush!"

Read Steve's interview below and learn how to change your life for good.

When Steve first decided to have a go at getting up on stage in a bodybuilding contest, he didn't really believe he could do it, even we weren't that sure if he was fully committed. But when you set a goal, no matter how small and you experience the feeling of success, it spurs you on to do more than you could ever imagine. Steve is an inspiration!

Read his interview below and feel inspired.

This is Steve's after photo. 14 weeks at Real Nutrition.

Steve, there must have been a reason, a trigger or a a turning point in you deciding to change, what was it?
One day, I tied my shoes, by the time I'd finished, I was huffing and puffing! I knew then I had to do something about myself, tying your own shoes should be a breeze, not for me, I had almost passed out with the sudden head rush!  Another trigger  would be family and friends who haven’t seen me for years, would notice the sudden weight gain, hearing words such as “fat” and “you look sick” would ring in my ears! I needed to prove them that I chose not to be fat!

Did anybody else inspire you?
My training partners Johnathan (Triple S) Stowers and Mose (Captain TP) Petaia would inspire me. Seeing the changes happen to them, kept pushing me to keep going and not to give up!

How did you motivate yourself to keep going?
By having that support network with Johnathan and Mose helped me a lot, also when the weight started dropping off, I was getting great feedback from friends, family and work colleagues. Looking at old photos kept me going as well!

Can you give us a few tips on training, did you have to train for hours?
My biggest tip is Don’t Over-train!

Why did you see a nutritionist, can’t you just train hard and take supplements?

Seeing a nutritionist helped me understand the food science of things, I cant believe it was that involved and important, yeah I could of trained and taken supplements but without having professional advise on food, its pointless. Nutrition and Training works hand in hand.

How has your life changed?

Yep, I am more confident, I can tie my shoes easy! I have more energy to get me through the day!

How did you lose so much weight so fast?
Eating Clean!

What have you learned that you can share with others who are keen to do the same.

See a nutritionist! Get a group to do it with you, so you have that support network going on.

Were there any setbacks or failures?

Yep, but I brought it upon myself by not eating clean and also over-training.

What did you do to get over the setbacks?
Had the support from family, friends but most of all my training partners Mose and Johnathan helped me a lot!

What was your diet like over the 16 weeks did it change?

It started getting smaller as we got closer to my first bodybuilding comp, They are whole foods which I guess is manageable.

How on earth did you change your body so much ?
Eating Clean again!

How have your eating habits changed now ?

Its changed a lot, a lot more wiser, knowing and understanding the type of foods I should be eating is definitely helpful.

Could you go back to the old you?

Hell No! Never going back there ever!

What are you going to do to ensure you stay in shape?

Still see Jacquie, train hard and eat clean!

Who would you like to inspire?

Anyone, especially anyone that has a similar experience as me.

Did you take supplements, why?

Thermos- to help get my body fat % down for the comp, BCAAs, pure Glutamine and HMB for muscle recovery, growth and maintenance, Protein Powder is a must!

Can you give us 3 nutrition tips and 3 training tips?

Nutrition- Try not to eat excessive carbs at night/ Breakfast is important/ Protein in all meals. Training- Cardio not to intense but regular/ 3-4 days for weights/ No longer than 1.5 hours at the gym!

Where to from here?

South Island Champs!

Do you still get to eat nice food?
Umm Jacquie wont let me as I have a comp coming up. LOL!

Life Changing
I now see my nutritionist every Wednesday and she is one of the most important people in my life. She teaches me and mentors me on my long journey to losing 40 kilos of fat. She makes me feel very comfortable, like I am part of the Real Nutrition family. She fine tunes my healthy eating plan every week and tops up my nutritional supplements. She supported me to move to another gym and get a personal trainer to undergo regular resistance training and cardio sessions. To date I have lost 14 kilos of fat. I feel so healthy, strong and in control.I haven't been sick for months, and my doctor wants to take me off my blood pressure and cholesterol medication at my next 3 monthly visit.
