Nicola Harrington2008 Novice Figure Nabba North Harbour.![]() Wow what a journey! It all started 26 short weeks ago. I must admit at the beginning it seemed that my goal of entering the North Harbour Champs on the 1st November was a lifetime away.
I was over-trained and undernourished. So my trainer suggested I give Jacquie a call. Gosh what a turning point! From the moment I walked in with my food diary in hand and I was greeted by Tim’s friendly smile, I knew I was in the right place. Jacquie was amazing! At our first meeting she weighed me, took my body fat then sat back and asked me some well-worded questions. The greatest thing was and still is that Jacquie “gets it”. She knows how to read people and through her caring approach takes you under her wing. When we talked about my goal of entering the North Harbours Champs she told me that I needed to eat lots and lots of good clean food. So for someone like me whose dietary plan consisted of coffee, coffee and more coffee with silver-beet to round off my busy day, Jacquie needed to teach me how to eat. Oh boy, she’s done that, just look at the results! I gone from someone who never ate breakfast nor lunch and here I am watching the clock (and at times hanging out) to eat my 6 meals a day. Our fortnightly visits consist of “the pinch test”, standing on the scales; having a chat and Jacquie tweaking my nutritional plan. This last bit I really look forward to! The food is great tasting and lots of it! I get really excited when peanut butter, sauce or even different fruit gets added to the plan. My breakfast used to be Vogel’s café style muesli with yoghurt and protein. However my breakfast of choice is – wait for it – porridge! The great thing about the food is that it isn’t anything special – you can get it all from the supermarket. Even better my two teenage sons can eat my food too. They even enjoy it! As my journey continues, Jacquie has taught me how to eat and the importance of a great nutritional plan. Actually it all comes down to having a fabulous nutritionist whom I trust. I couldn’t have made the changes without her. Jacquie is more than a nutritionist, she’s a friend. Thank you is two little words that really mean so much. Jacquie – THANK YOU! |
