Jeremy Corbett
As seen in the award winning Sunday Star Times Escape section. Jeremy Corbett is a stand up comedian and breakfast announcer on Auckland’s More FM. He was also host of TV3’s game show Deal or No Deal. He is married and in his spare time works as an MC for various events around the country. 5.15am Bike to work. About 5km 5.30am Arrive at work. Eat a sachet of Uncle Toby’s Oat Temptations. Not straight from the packet. I learned that the hard way. No. Microwaved in some liquid milk. Dunno what colour top. It’s all milk to me. Has anyone really packed on the kilos because they used blue top instead of green top? 6am First coffee. 7am Second coffee. 7.30am Third coffee. 8.30am Fourth coffee (All coffees black no sugar. Am typing this fast!) 8.45am Denise L’Estrange Corbet came in to chat about her courageous ocean swim. She brought in a chocolate roll and a scroll. I ate both. Surely no calories if someone brings them in as a gift! 10.15am My wife, Megan, has prepared a packed lunch. Bowl of fruit and a couple of large handfuls of nuts or nibbly mix thingies. 12.30pm Bike home from work. 12.45pm Home. A wrap filled with cheese, alfalfa, sliced ham, olives, capsicum. Make it grilled to have it nice and crispy on the outside. 12.47pm Another one. 4.55pm Walk my dog Nugget to the shop. Only 5 minutes. 5pm Glass of wine. Write some comedy. 5.30pm Glass of wine. Comedy getting funnier. 6pm Glass of wine. Comedy now hilarious. Nugget is unimpressed. 7pm Dinner. Big helping of green salad, bit of cheese and some chicken. Glass of wine. Did I mention the glass of wine? 8pm Lately we’ve got into a bad habit of snacking after dinner. Usually some of that dried fruit mix from lunch. Today was an Easter egg, the one with chocolate buttons inside. Not my fault. Heather from More FM gave it to me. 9pm Couple of fingers of whisky. I have very big fingers. 9.30pm Look at the comedy I wrote earlier. My writing is hard to read. It doesn’t seem as funny anymore. And there are wine stains 10.30pm Bed. Jacquie says Never mind the milk Jeremy. Switching to low fat milk will not cancel out the vineyard you drank last night or the thousand-plus calories you inhaled at morning tea time. We don’t have to be rocket scientists to figure out that Jeremy is consuming too many of the wrong kind of calories. It’s great that he is cycling to work, but he’d need to cycle for about three hours just to burn off morning tea. Those black coffees aren’t all bad. If they were trim lattes he’d be adding more than 70g of extra sugar and more than 500 calories to his diet. We are led to believe that the key to weight loss is to cut the carbs or ditch the fat, but the real culprit is often alcohol or too many milky coffees. On average, alcohol contains seven calories per gram, making it nearly twice as fattening as carbs and proteins. The recommendations associated with a lower risk of heart disease are based on one standard 100ml glass of wine a day. Unfortunately, chances are we are drinking four times that if we are drinking at home as most wine glasses are triple that size. Thank goodness his wife is looking after him and packing fruit for lunch Each week a nutritionist from Real Nutrition looks over a celebrity's diet.
